That was HatFest!

Another BRIDPORT HAT FESTIVAL is done and dusted and by now we’re all recovered… just.

Proceedings began with August 31st’s Thursday evening Hat Auction at the Bridport & West Dorset Club, with around 150 donated hats going under the gavel of renowned auctioneer Jim Rowe.

Then Saturday 2nd September – ‘Haturday‘ – drew many of the town’s behatted locals and visitors into the shop to show us their wonderful creations.

Snookette Sue took time out of the shop to compere some of the competitions, notably the Snook-sponsored ‘Most Elegant Ensemble‘ Ladies, Gents and Couples categories over at Millennium Green, judged by Roger and Monica Snook (with non-judging Tuppence the dog) and Phil from sunhat supplier Sunday Afternoons. When the shop finally closed, the rest of the staff headed up to the Green to get involved in the festivities for the rest of the day – one way or another.

So that’s HatFest done for another year. But pencil it in for 2024 – it’ll be the first Saturday in September!
