A hat really needs to be fitted. For this reason we do not sell hats (or indeed any other item) online, however, we can usually supply by post if you know the hat you want and you give us your size. Please bear in mind the fit of hats can vary (see our returns policy), depending not only on the make and model of hat but on head shape as well, so we can only guarantee the fit of headwear fitted in store.

To find your hat size, it’s best to get someone else to measure you – they will be able to wrangle the tape measure around your head more easily than you can! Use a soft tape measure and place it around the head (not too tight) at the widest part, just above the eyebrows, and measure round in centimetres. This is your size but, again, your individual head shape (and the hat shape) may alter your actual requirement slightly, thus it is so important to try before you buy.
Gents’ or unisex stock is generally held in sizes 56-61cm, with smaller or larger sizes than these obtainable in some makes/styles. The majority of ladies‘ hats tend to be made in a standard size 57cm (UK 7, or medium), with adjustability built into some to enable size reduction, though a few, mainly summer, hats are available in petite (55cm) or large (59cm). Fascinator bands spring to fit most ladies’ heads.
The sizing chart below converts to a variety of systems. (NB: bear in mind that Tilley hats, whilst Canadian and nominally using North American measurements, in our experience should go up a further size for a proper fit.)
