The Portrait Challenge

In support of our town’s new event The Portrait Challenge, which is running until the end of this month, we have our very own pop-up ‘rogues gallery’ in the window of No.30.

Portraits of The Guvnor and near-full-time Snookette Sue, painted some years ago by part-time Snookette and rest-of-time artist Liz, can be seen hanging amongst the hats in the ‘ladies side’ display (see more at elizabethsporne.com).

The Portrait Challenge, an event championed by Bridport Rights Respecting Town and the Lyric Theatre, invites everyone to celebrate seeing each other again by making a portrait of someone special to you – perhaps a shielded relative you couldn’t meet for months, or a local legend you missed during lockdown. Then make your portrait public, either online (using their hashtag #theportraitchallenge), in a window, or even both! You don’t have to be able to really draw or paint, it’s your efforts that count.

So go on, there’s still time to make a face… you might even want to put a hat on it, in which case tag us, too!
